The Ward System
Sir, —When are we going to have a direct representation on the Christchurch CityCouncil? At present, members on the council live outside of the city. Mr Thompson gave very clear reasons for the undesirability of this Under the ward system you have only to elect the candidate in your own ward. At present you have to select 19 candidates from a list of 40 or 50.—Yours, etc., FRED LAWS. September 9, 1968.
