Fine lift
L. Sullivan, who gained third place in the recent “Mr Canterbury” physique contest, set a new Canterbury weightlifting record with a deadlift of 461J1b.
Sullivan made the lift at a bodyweight of 180}lb in a special attempt at the Canterbury Weightlifting Association’s gymnasium. Sullivan should be a strong contender for the lightheavyweight power lifting title when the Canterbury power lifting championships are held on October 12. He represented Canterbury at the “Mr New Zealand” physique contest held in conjunction with the New Zealand Olympic weightlifting championships at Whangarei.
