Charge Against Boy Dismissed

(N.Z. Press Association)

GISBORNE, Sept. 1. A 13-year-old boy charged with manslaughter was discharged by Mr W. M. Willis, S.M., in the Gisborne Magistrate’s Court on Friday after a lower-court hearing of the charge. “I am satisfied that no jury would convict this young lad on the evidence I have heard," the Magistrate said. The charge was laid after the death of a boy aged nine at Ruatoria on August 6. The Magistrate ordered non-publication of the name of the accused, and of any evidence that might identify him.

The accused was represented by Mr B. H. Bull.
