Engine Trouble Delays Hawera

Engine trouble has delayed the roll-on express vessel Hawea on her weekly southbound voyage from Auckland to Lyttelton and Dunedin. Although she normally arrives at Lyttelton in the forenoon, she did not berth until last evening, through having had to sail at reduced speed. According to the Union Steam Ship Company, a pinion shaft in the starboard engine was found to have broken on passage. The Hawea will sail for Dunedin when repairs, expected to occupy not less than two days, have been made at Lyttelton.
