A.A. Handbook
Sir, —“Perturbed Printer” has done well to give this matter publicity. This is the second year in which the South Island handbook has been printed in the North Island. Granted the book is excellently produced, but surely most of the tens of thousands of South Island A.A. members would logically expect their subscription money to be spent in the South Island. What do local printing firms have to say? There are web offset plants in both Christchurch and Nelson. We have just had an ex cellent printing exhibition here.. Let us support oui printers by giving them work —Yours, etc.,
R. O. ARRES. September 2, 1968.
Sir, —No doubt the Automobile Association feels that it must get the best value for its money,, in printing as in everything else: but I am a little surprised that the contract has gone to the same firm again this year. Last year I had to return the two copies that come into my household as many pages were quite illegible—or, rather, I had to make two trips to the A.A. office to effect an exchange, as the polite clerk would not issue replacements until the botched copies had been produced. I was given to understand then that some hundreds of copies were unusable.—Yours, etc., 3417.
