AUCKLAND, August 30.
Dr Barnardo’s child-care organisation in Britain will begin active work in New Zealand.
The council of the organisation plans to build, or acquire a home in the Auckland area capable of housing 20 to 30 children, with facilities for training nursery nurses and welfare workers.
The New Zealand secretary of Dr Barnardo’s Homes (Mrs M. E. Jones), said New Zealand had been running appeals for the Dr Barnardo organisation for the last 50 years. She felt Pakuranga would be the most suitable area for the New Zealand home. The manager of the New Zealand home would be announced in London on October 16. “I hope it is a New Zealander,” Mrs Jones said.
