Y.M.C.A. Appeal

Money collected from today’s annual street appeal by the Christchurch Young Men’s Christian Association will be used to support the association’s youth work, including camps, holiday programmes and activities at the Hereford Street centre, the Bryndwr branch and in other suburbs. The general secretary of the association (Mr R. J. O’Kane) said yesterday that only about 80 per cent of the youth activities were self-sup-porting. All the adult activities were self-supporting. Last year $l4OO was raised in the appeal. The record amount, of $2600, was given in 1963. Mr O’Kane said that collectors were still needed.
