EDUCATION BOARD HEAD

The Canterbury Education Board yesterday re-elected Mr A. S. Murray chairman. A motion by Messrs S. W. Gower and D. L. Waghorn that a deputy-chairman be appointed to take over some of the day-to-day duties of the chairman, was defeated. The board, which did not change membership in recent elections, reappointed all its standing committees and also its representatives on other

organisations, two members exchanging committee duties for personal reasons. The committee chairmen are:—Professional, Mr E. F. Wilde; buildings, Mr A. Manning; agriculture, Mr E. S. Ayres; manual and technical, Mr R. W. Sansom; teachers’ college. Mr R. K. Milne; transport and consolidation, Mr O. S. Priest'; finance, Mr D. L. Waghom; staffing, Mr Murray.
