Drinking Contest

An international beer drinking contest has been held in a eave in Arucas, in the Canary Islands, according to the Spanish Information Service. The eight competitors included an Australian, a German and a New Zealander. The winner was a local man who drank 11 pints in two hours and a half. He received a silver trophy. In second place was the New Zealander, Mr Peter Lilly. Two girls who took part in the contest each received a gold ring.
