Helicopters For Oil-search Work

(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Aug. 18. Nelson-based Helicopters (New Zealand), Ltd, has won a contract to service the offshore oil-drilling ship Discoverer II during its operations off the Taranaki coast. The contract has been signed with Esso Exploration and Production (New Zealand), Ltd, but will also cover the ship’s operations for Shell, B.P. and Todd Oil Services, Ltd. Drilling in Esso’s concession area, off Mokau, about 52 miles north-east of New Plymouth, is due to start on October 1. Shell and 8.P.Todd’s operations, 22 miles off Opunake, are expected to be. gin early next year.
