Annual Competitions Festival At Timaru
(From Our Own Reporter) TIMARL’, August 19. The Timaru Competitions Society’s sixteenth annual festival of entertainment and talent opened at the Scotish and New Century Halls today.
The competitions i a demonstration concer The judges are:—Fancy dancing, Miss Pam Trimmer (Christchurch); national dancing, Miss Janice Hardy (Gore); tap dancing. Mrs Maree Fisher (Christchurch); vocal and instrumental. Mr David F. Sell (Christchurch): speech. Mr Walter J. Hall (Palmerston North); modelling, Mrs Ngaire Ruddenklau.
Winner of the New Zealand under-16 Irish hornpipe title was Lynley Brown, of Christchurch, with 86 points. Nola Loach (Ashburton) was second (85), and Annette Dugan (Christchurch) was third (80). The judge commended the winner on her neat appearance and “good clear tripling.” The under-12 South Canterbury Irish jig championship was won by a Dunedin girl, Pamela Smith
