Restriction Removed

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, Aug. 19.

Secondary schools may now appoint relieving teachers to replace teachers who are absent through illness or are attending short-term refresher courses.

The Minister of Education (Mr Kinsella) said the decision should be welcomed by all secondary schools. They would be able to provide relief for a teacher who was absent for a short time with any seasonal illness. Previously a reliever could be appointed only when a teacher had been away for a week or more.
