NEW GOLF COURSE

Opening Day Soon

The Ascot par-3 golf course, built for the Christchurch City Council at Queen Elizabeth II Park, will be opened on Saturday, September 7. The 12 par-3 holes to be used when the course opens vary in length from 90 yards to 190 vards. It is hoped to have the full 18 holes open within a year. The course, which is reported to be in excellent condition, will be strictly a municipal course for green fees players. A fully-equipped golf shop and a cafeteria will be among the facilities. The course is the first of its kind to be built in Christchurch.

It is proposed to have a residential professional at the course later, when practice facilities are completed.
