Swimmer Back

With more than 200 miles of training in Townsville behind her, the Olympic swimmer, Miss T. K. Shipston, looked a picture of health and fitness when she returned to Christchurch on Saturday. Miss Shipston said it was the hardest training she had done, but she had never been fitter. She said she felt she could not afford to ease up on her training at this stage of her preparation for Mexico City. Miss Shipston’s coach, Mr J. Breward, who accompanied her to Townsville, expressed himself satisfied with his charge’s progress. The heavy load of training she had borne at Townsville was already showing a dividend in terms of power, he said.
