LINWOOD 14: P Jellyman. K. Gimblttt tries: Jellyman two penalties and a conversion. MARIST 5: B. McAlister a try and a conversion. Combining with far more pur-

pose tn the second spell. Linwood beat Marist at Denton Oval on Saturday to win the D.C.L. Shield. Linwood led 3-0 at the interval but it was not until the second half that Linwood finally asserted itself with a series of enterprising efforts. Much of the first half was scrappy but when Jellyman and Gimblett settled down the Marist defence was at full stretch to contain them.

JOliyman was tn fine form, scoring 11 Of his team’s points. His goal kicking was a little erratic in the first spell but his Improvement tn the soeend set the seal on Linwood’S victory. Marist struggled industriously but could not get sufficient ball to worry Linwood. K. Cowan nhis usual honest game forwards and K Milos looked for work on the wing. The Linwood pack drove with conviction on a number of occasions and T. Norton and R. Eastmond were prominent. Referee: Mr F. B. Campbell.
