WELLINGTON. Although defeated, 25-10, the New Zealand Universities Rugby league team emerged with credit from its match with Wellington on Saturday. New Zealand Universities led. 7-6 at half-time, but Wellington’s superiority in the scrums was a telling factor after the interval.

The outstanding players in the match were Wellington’s Kiwi hooker. C. O’Neil, and the Auckland trio in the students team, the loose forward, B. Donnelly the scrum-half, G. Smith, and the five-eighths W. Bates. For Wellington, N. Beri, R. Paul, N. Adams, G. Davsen. F. Rasmussen, S. Rolleston and R. Farrell scored tries and fieri converted two. For New Zealand Universities. K. Peterson and Smith scored tries. Smith kicked a dropped goal and J. Rosanow ski a penalty.
