Firearms Amnesty
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 18. A three-month amnesty on illegal possession of firearms will be in force in New Zealand from September 1 to November 30. People who hand in illegal arms to the police in this period will not be prosecuted. The police will also not prosecute those who have unregistered, but legal, weapons if they hand them over during this period. Consideration will be given to their registration.
