Taxation
Sir,—l quite agree with “Lively Lady” when she states that we should strive for “better ways of living." However, to state that the indirect tax (which may come in) would be advantageous to the “privileged” class is sheer nonsense. Admittedly, some may find it harder than others, but paying taxes has the beneficial result known to all. Yet there are no grounds to maintain that the “privileged” class will benefit more than any other class. If this tax is necessary then it will be a move towards “better ways of living” which “Lively Lady" wants and, I am sure, "Housewife” does, too.—Yours, etc., ESTIMATION. August 16, 1968.
