All hands to pump

As many as 50 Canterbury Rugby players could be engaged in first-class fixtures on August 31. Canterbury A will be playing Taranaki at New Plymouth, while, at Christchurch, Canterbury B plays Buller as a curtain-raiser to the interisland match,. It is likely that about 10 members of the A team will be called on by the South Island selectors, either as full of the side, or as reserves. A. E. Hopkin-

son, J. N. Creighton, J. F. Burns, A. J. Wyllie, L A. Kirkpatrick, I. H. Penrose, L. J. Davis, W. D. Cottrell, P. K. Hatchwell and W. F. McCormick are all strong candidates for places. This will involve the Canterbury Rugby Union in a considerable reshuffling of players. On August 28 the South Island representatives in the Canterbury A team will fly back to Christchurch and their replacements will fly north the following day.
