Two districts (Isleworth; and Merivalej and a new -div-' ision at Rangiora have been formed this -year by the North Canterbury -Girl Guides’ Association.
"The provincial commissioner (Mrs J. H. Powell) said; at the association’s recent an-, ntral meeting that a very fine; spirit prevailed in the province. “People are coming for-; ward to Offer their services as they have never done before,"' she said.
"To Show the growth Of guiding in the area, the pro-' vincial secretary (Mrs I. M.. Poiitton) said that in 1998 there were 961 brownies, 1045 girt guides, and 16 .commissioners. This year there were; 1750 brownies, 1800 guides, and 27 commissioners in the North Canterbury province.
