Market Gains Over Broad Front
The sharemarket again made a solid advance on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday, in very active trading over an exceptionally wide range.
Of the 127 issues traded 55 rose, 16 declined and 56 were unchanged. Most moves were relatively narrow, but widely spread. All sections of the market participated, but motor shares lost on balance; N.Z. Refining declined and finance companies were uneven.
Meat shares also were uneven: New Zealand Refrigerating rose 2c, but C.F.M. was 1c cheaper.
Outstanding moves were by Burnetts, up 19c to 90c, after a good preliminary report, and Skellerup Industries, 13c higher at 650 c. Tasman rose 20c, to 845 c.
