HEREWINI NEAR 200

The Auckland fiveeighths, M. Herewini, will make his 200th first-class appearance when he takes the field for his team against Counties in the representative Rugby match at Papakura today, the Press Association reports. The only other Auckland player to attain this distinction is H. White, who was a prop in Auckland sides between 1949 and 1963. Herewini is the first back to reach 200.

He made his debut in major Rugby in 1958, when he played five games for Auckland. So far he has turned out for his union 117 times. He played for New Zealand from 1962 to 1967. WILLIMENT RESTING

The former New Zealand and Wellington full-back, M Williment will play no more serious Rugby this season.

A run of injuries has kept him out of regular Rugby this season, and with only one club match to go, Williment will rest until next season.

All his energies would go into getting himself fit for the 1969 Rugby season, he said.

AUSTRALIAN TRIBUTE Australian Rugby adminis trators yesterday paid tribute to Mr T. C. Morrison, who has announced that he will retire from the New Zealand Rugby Council in April. They described him as a very able Rugby administrator who had been a good friend to Australian Rugby, and said he would be sadly missed. Mr Warwick Ramsden, nresident of the Australian Rugby Union, said: “He has given an enormous amount to Rugby in Australia, as well as in New Zealand. “Under him New Zealand has gone out of its way to help us. We will be sorry to see him step down.” Mr Charles Blunt, president of the New South Wales Rugby Union and a friend of Mr Morrison, said: “I’m quite distressed to hear the news. He will be very sadly missed not only in New Zealand but in international Rugby.
