(N.Z. treat Association) HASTINGS. In the Herirangi Handicap at Hastings on Saturday, Great Divide was a late scratching on the recommendation of the veterinary surgeon who examined the horse after its preliminary. The matter was investigated after the race, when it was found that the horse was lame. The club's veterinary surgeon examined the horse and found that the near foreleg, which was heavily bandaged, was tender, and that the horse was in obvious pain. Investments were refunded.
