Safe Taken At Ashley
The Ashley State Forest headquarters was broken into
on Thursday night and the safe and a walkie-talkie radio were stolen. The safe was later found hacked open with an axe on an unused road. The sum of S5O and a cheque had been stolen from it. A window had been smashed.
A cigarette lighter and an ashtray valued at Sl7 were stolen from the Canterbury Stone Company, 140 Durham Street, on Friday night. Three baches at Birdlings Flat were found to have been broken into at the week-end. A binocular valued at $2B was stolen from one of them and as far as is known nothing was taken from the other two.
An unknown quantity of property was stolen from the Sydenham Kindergarten, Buchan Street, on Friday night
