RADIO, TV COVERAGE

Olympics In Mexico (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation will send a team of five to Mexico City to provide a broadcast coverage of the Olympic Games, which open on October 12. The team will be led by the corporation’s supervisor of sports broadcasts, Mr C. L. S Cross, of Wellington. There will be three programmes daily of 15 minutes each on both the national and commercial networks, and a review of 20 minutes each night. The three daily programmes will include commentaries, results, eye-witness reports and interviews, but in the event of New Zealanders competing in a final efforts will be made to arrange “live” commentaries. Final details of television coverage of the games have still to be decided, but it will probably consist of a daily half-hour programme compiled by the New Zealand and Australian broadcasting teams.

These programmes would be shown in New Zealand five days after the events in Mexico City.
