American Land Purchase
Sir, —1 support Arthur Lush. Let us keep our land unspoilt. If Americans come in, up wjll go fences and “keep out” signs. New Zea. landers have jealously preserved their right to walk almost anywhere they like in their own country. Let us do something to preserve this heritage before it is too late. The door has already been left open too wide. New Zealanders should be awake to the fact that shore-line land is a precious asset that should, wherever possible, be public. Some of it has already been lost to private development and to speculators. Some of it is in alien hands, which could make nonsense of our defence pretensions. We must act before more goes the same way.—Yours, etc., FLEMING ROSS MILLER. August 5, 1968.
