Union Fees

Sir, —My husband pays $lO in union fees yearly to the

New Zealand Workers’ Union. He does not wish to make a donation to the Labour Party, yet the Labour Party is the beneficiary to the extent of $4OOO a year from this union. On objecting to this state of affairs at a union meeting he was told that he could either pay his union fees, a portion of which will support one political party, or else he could give up his job. This is political blackmail, and Parliament should stop it.— Yours, etc., OUT OF WORK. July 20, 1968.
