Fewer Lotteries
The tightening of the economy may be partly responsible for the decrease in the number of Golden Kiwi Lotteries drawn during the last financial year—4l were drawn, compared with 43 in the previous year. Only four mammoth lotteries, were drawn compared with six last year. The annua! report of the Internal Affairs Department, tabled in Parliament said: “This assumption is borne out more clearly in the mammoth lotteries, in which it seems likely that as many people are taking part as in previous years—but that more are doing so as members of syndicates to reduce the cost” -(P.A.)
