Earning Rate Lower Although the group profit of Dominion Breweries, Ltd, Auckland, ros< 2.4 per cent in the year to March 31, the increase was insufficient to maintain the earning rate on average shareholders’ funds. The rate fell from 12 per cent to 11.4 per cent, while that on capital rose from 29.1 per cent to 29.8 per cent The profit rose $34,926 to $1,469,278 after providing $332,538 more for depreciation at $1,059,820 and $7599 more for tax at $1,520,975. The 12} per cent dividend on both the preference and ordinary capital requires $822 more at $617,478 and is covered 2.4 times by the profit Shareholders* funds are $911,560 higher at $13,372,978 with ordinary capital up $11,750 to $4,865,000 and preference capital unchanged at $BO,OOO.
