Stock Wool Sales
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 12. This season the Wool Commission had sold 16,800 bales of stock wool in New Zealand and Britain, the commission announced today in its news sheet. The wool represented more than a quarter of the purchases by the commission in the early months of the 196768 season. Gross receipts amounted to $1.66m. At New Zealand auctions this season 1,572,000 bales of greasy wool were sold for an average of 22.9 cents a pound, said the report. The commission paid a supplement on 49 per cent of the bales sold. This cost sB.2m and raised the average price to growers to 24.4 cents a pound.
