Ashburton Shopping Hours
Sir, —Your report in the Ashburton news that the Ashburton shop assistants favour Thursday as late night is cause for concern. Many people rely on Friday for week-end shopping, especially home-coming school boarders who find the shops closed and cannot buy goods at any other time during the week-end. The express gets in about 5.50 p.m. Not only boarders would be inconvenienced, but also country people who cannot get away at any other times during the week.—Yours, etc., E. KEELEY, H. DOIG.
