VOLLEYBALL

3-0 Win For University A University A had little difficulty beating University V, 3-0, in the only A grade inter-club volleyball match played last evening. The first set was characterised by long rallies, and some accurate placings and fine field play by W. Oakley. University A won the first, 15-11, and breezed through the second, 15-1. During the second game, powerful spiking by D. Flohr and outstanding net play by G. Gainsford and A. Waugh gave the A team the advantage. University V made greater progress in the third, when B. Nguyen and T. Nguyen were prominent with deft placements and hard smashing, but the A team won the deciding set, 15-10. Other results: A Grade: Bryndwr Y.M.C.A. beat University M, by default. B grade: Training College beat University Girls, 18-14, 15-0, 15-5; Deep Freeze beat Training College Girls. 15-1, 11-15, 15-8, 15-5; Old Maroons beat Y.M.C.A., 15-13, 2-15, 15-11, 13-15, 9-8; University D beat University C, 15-5, 15-8, 15-1.
