Traffic Lights Urged

Sir,—Still another accident, involving three cars, occurred early this morning at the intersection of Fendalton and Straven Roads. For years we have read that traffic lights would be installed at this comer; but still no lights. Stop signs have been erected, and a traffic officer is on duty at the comer from 8 to 9 a.m., and 5 to 6 p.m. on week days. Still motor accidents go on occurring, especially after dark, and in the early hours of the morning. What is the Transport Department doing about traffic lights at this corner? What is the Waimairi County Council, especially Messrs O. C. Mitchell and R. C. Neville, the Fendalton riding members, doing in the matter? Also the member for Fendalton, Mr E. F. S. Holland? I fear that the answer to all these questions is, absolutely nothing.—Yours, etc., ACTION PLEASE. July 7, 1968.
