(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. North Auckland beat Auckland, 14-6, at Eden Park. North Auckland, which led 14-9 at halftime, was clearly superior in many aspects of play. Auckland was embarrassingly inferior in its tackling and combination In the backs. D. R. Panther and M. J. Robinson scored North Auckland’s tries, and K. T. Going converted one, kicked a penalty and dropped goal. R. D. Whatman kicked two penalty goals for Auckland. Other representative matches resulted:— King Country 17 ( tries by B. Flintoff, B. Cull, H. Tapsell and R. Pakl, I. Ingham kicked a penalty goal and a conversion) beat Wanganui 8 (try by A. Theed, penalty goal and conversion by R. B. Barrell). Bush 12 (P. Roach a try, P. Goldsworthy three penalty goals) beat Walrarapa 5 (R. Rowlands a try converted by R. Couch). Buller 14 (G. M. Hart and B. Murray tries, Hart two penalties and a conversion) beat Nelson 13 (T. L. Smith, J. Mclntyre and D. R. Bowater tries, and Bowater two conversions).
