SECOND WIN FOR SMITHS
E. G. F. Smith and Mrs Smith won the Canterbury indoor bowls husband-and-wlfe pairs championship for the second year in succession yesterday. They beat I. Brown and Mrs Brown, 12-11, after a tremendous tussle in the final. Going into the last end, the Smiths were one down, but Brown attempted to take his opponents* shot bowl out and went two down to lose the match by one point. Results:— Quarter-finals. —E. G. F. Smith 11, beat J. Rowe 5; C. McGuire 11, beat Mrs M. McGuire 7; I. Brown 10, beat L. Cheyne 8; J. A. Greer 11, beat Mrs S. Knight 5. Semi-finals.—E. G. F. Smith 10, beat C. McGuire 8; I. Brown 6, beat J. A. Greer 4. Final.—Smith 12, beat Brown
