Gold Price Soars

(N.Z.P.A. -Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. May 15. The price of gold hit a record price of SUS4O.IO an ounce in London today—3o cents higher than yesterday’s price. Trading among bullion dealers was the heaviest since the free market in gold was established in London on April 1. The price was set at the customary morning fixing session in the offices of N. M. Rothschild and Sons, where sources said gold started the morning at $U539.30 an ounce. Heavy buying forced the level up to 5U540.30 until sellers emerged to settle the price at SUS4O.IO. This was SUSS.IO higher than the official gold price at which Washington buys and sells gold to central markets.
