VISITING FARMER
Mr P. Owen, a member of the Yinnar Senior Young Farmers’ Club, Victoria, has been selected to tour New Zealand for three months under the sponsorship of the Bank of New South Wales. He will be in North Canterbury this week. Mr Owen was selected from six leading area finalists, and the selection panel consisted of a representative from the Royal Agri cultural Society of Victoria, the Department of Agriculture and the Bank of New South Wales. He has been a member of the ' Young Farmer movement for the last four years and in that time held the positions of president and public relations officer with the Yinnar club. A private pilot, Mr Owen is also keen on sailing. He spends considerable time on public relations work, conducting Young Farmer radio broadcasts for a local radio station. He is employed on the family dairy farm of 300 acres. The farm carries a herd of 100 Jersey cows, together with a small number of vealers. Mr Owen Is a part-time technician with the Yinnar Artificial Breeders’ Association.
Yinnar is south-east of Melbourne in the Gippsland area.
