Trust Plans New Series Of Awards
A new series of awards is planned by the Vernon Willey Charitable Trust. The Vernon Willey Trust was established in New Zealand two yean ago by Lord
Barnby (Francis Vernon Willey) who appointed the Guar dian Trust and Executors Company of New Zealand, Ltd, as trustee, and nominated an advisory committee to decide upon disbursement ot the trust income. In terms of its discretions under the trust deed, the committee decided to concenrate on awards which would stimulate new developments to promote the sheep and wool industry in New Zealand. Already there have been prom ising results from projects and research financed by early grants from the Trust. Awards will be considered to aid research and education in production, processing and marketing of wool, the general development and improvement of the sheep and woo! industry, and promotion of this industry for the benefit of New Zealand.
The members of the advis- ' dry committee are Mr C. J. Ferrier, Mr J. Boyd-Clark, Professor N. C. Phillips (ViceChancellor of the University of Canterbury), Sir George Manning (Mayor of Christchurch) Dr M. M- Burns (Principal of Lincoln College) ■ and Lord Barnby. The Work of recipients of i these awards may lie within either academic or commer- > cial aspects of the sheep and wool industry.
