Air Pollution

Sir,—l was pleased to read in your columns that Mir pollution in our city is causing concern. Certainly, complete elimination would be a long and costly business, but surely

it would be a simple and-cost-less matter to forbid the banking of fires late at night, which in the early hours of the morning produce a lowlying gaseous poison. This would at least be a step away from the apathetic attitude towards our serious problem of air pollution. This killer affects ail, though they may not realise it, from young children to elderly adults. Could not the Regional Planning Authority commence the elimination of this evil by prohibiting the menacing and purely lazy practice of banking up domestic fires late at night?—Yours, etc., SLOW POISON.
