AUCKLAND, May 12.

Marijuana might be legalised in California, said Captain J. Engler, who retired as chief inspector of the San Francisco police department last November, when he arrived in Auckland in the liner Mariposa today. Many of those addicted to it came from respectable middleclass society and these people were appearing in the courts on criminal charges, he Mid. Bills were being put into committee aiming at legalising its use.
