Steady Tone On Lower Turnovers
Compared with Monday of last week, trading was much quieter yesterday on New Zealand stock exchanges with rises just shading falls. However, leaders were steady. The overseas section was active.
N.Z. Petroleum continued to fluctuate and finished 40c lower at 400 c after touching 350 c in a Wellington sale.
Leaders which finished easier were Fletcher, down 1c to 187 c; 1.C.1.N.Z., down 1c to 180 c; J. Wattle, 2c lower at 193 c: N.Z. Insurance, 3c down at 287 c; and N.Z. Refining, 2c easier at 618 c. Motor groups were firmer Manthel gained 5c to 155 c while Motor Specialties and Seabrook Fowlds each gained Ic.
In the overseas section, B.H.P. lost 50c to 2550 c while Feltex Australia rose 2e to 70c. Mount Isa wu 15c lower at 850 c.
