Chance For Saunders

G. R. Saunders, ranked No. 5 in the province, will lead a strong Canterbury table tennis men’s team in its defence of the Cox-Radford Trophy at the South Island northern quadrangular tournament at Blenheim next week-end. He has been in good club form this season and if he plays well in this tournament he will be a strong contender to playin the bigger representative matches later in the season. The women’s team does not took particularly strong and could be struggling in many of its matches. The team, selected by Messrs R. G. Hart. T. R. D. Flint and A. B. McCallum is: Men: Saunders (Hoon Hay), B. T. Edwards (Dallington captain), R. B. McCallum (Selwyn) and G. W. Makinson (Linwood). Women: Miss J. Stead (Selwyn. captain), Mrs B. Littler (Red Shield), Mrs J. Campbell (Riccarton) and Miss C. Taylor (Linwood).
