Canterbury Retains Indoor Bowls Trophy

Although the selectors (Messrs E. G. F. Smith, J. A. Greer and R. C. Hogwood) had made five changes to the team that beat Ashburton two weeks ago. Canterbury convincingly defeated Marlborough, 38 points to 18 (19 games to 9) to retain the A. S. Paterson Cup for inter-provinc’al indoor bowls A new representative. L. McLennan, justified his selection by winning both of his single? matches comfortably. He led well for A. Williamson in the pairs. Mrs P. Lovelace played fine bowls and her singles match, when she beat Mrs P Poole, 11-7, was a fine match Williamson also played well and only lost his first fours game, while Mrs B. Penney won both of her singles matches by good margins. Cook teamed well with Mrs Lovelace in the pairs, but lost to Mrs M. Holloway in his first singles match and was held to a draw by E. Lammas in his second. The teams were:
