Fog Closes Airport

Four flights scheduled to arrive and four scheduled to depart were cancelled when Christchurch Airport was closed for landings because of low cloud between 10 a.m. and 2.10 pjn. yesterday. One extra flight was used but most of the passengers travelled on later flights. Overseas flights were not affected. A flight scheduled to go to Timaru and Oamaru was cancelled last evening when Timaru Airport closed. Oamaru was marginal. The passengers were taken by bus. Dunedin Airport closed about 8.15 p.m. because of fog and a flight travelled straight through to Invercargill from Christchurch. There were few delays after Christchurch Airport opened again for landings but late last evening conditions were marginal.
