Teen-age Driving Finalists Found

Two boys and a girl yesterday won the Christchurch district finals of the national teen-age Driver of the Year award.

They are J. Gilchrist, aged 19, of Swannanoa, M. Sadler, aged 16, of 34 Plynllmon Road, and Miss M. Anderson, aged 19, of 35 Akaroa Street. They will fly to Auckland in September for the national i final at Papatoetoe. The winner of the final will be given an eight-day holiday in Fiji and the runner-up will go to Norfolk Island for five days Twenty-four drivers com peted in the section of the district final conducted by the South Christchurch Junior Chamber. Gilchrist lost 41 points. The runner-up. S. Bower, of Swannanoa, lost 63 points, and B.

Salisbury, of 92 Aynsley Terrace, lost 74 points, to be third. Miss Anderson, who won the section conducted by the New Brighton Junior Cham ber, lost 89 points. Miss J. McKenzie, of 185 New Brighton Road, was second with 125 points, and J. Thornton, of 24 Golf Links Road, was third, with 144 points. There were 22 entries but only 10 drivers competed. The section conducted by the Riccarton Junior Chamber had 28 entrants. M. Sadler lost 91 points, G. O’Connor aged 18. of Pound Road, lost 102 points, and B. O’Byrne, who was third, lost 104 points.
