An engineering background, preferably in the electrical and communications field, would be advantageous, but the greatest emphasis will be placed on selling and overall marketing ability. He must be able to speak to engineers and company principals on their own terms, not only to promote sales but also to ascertain possible opportunities for new products. He will not be required to undertake detail design work, but to see opportunities for the company’s products to a point where the company’s specialists can take over. The man appointed will be required to travel widely in New Zealand and will occasionally be required to visit Australia to promote export sales.
