Christchurch Unemployment
The unemployment figure for men in Christchurch, 811, rose by 53 from April 19 to April 30, but the figure for women, 151, dropped by 11. These figures were given by the Labour Department in Christchurch on Thursday.
The major categories of unemployed are: labourers, 310; factory workers, 94; tradesmen, 75. There was one school leaver among the unemployed. Job placements for April were 195 men and 134 women. Vacancies, including those for juveniles, number 86—58 of them for men.
