UNUSUAL CITY CAR
AN unusual new “city car” has been shown to journalists in London. The car, produced by Universal Power Drives, Ltd, is unlike any other: it is a 6ft square cube, the walls and sides of which are of safety glass. The roof is of Sundym glass which darkens in colour according to the brightness of the sunlight. The car Is powered by B.M.C. front-wheel-drive components, and has a top speed of about 50 m.p.h. Because it
is square, it can be parked either parallel to the pavement or by running it in head-on to the kerb. The vehicle, known as the Quasar-Unipower, has five sliding doors and a very small turning circle. The first six cars have been bought by a French company. The vehicle will seat five persons, and the makers expect it to have a large market as a sightseeing vehicle for leisure and industrial use, and as invalid transport.
