MEN HELPED ESCAPER
Prison Terms Imposed (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 1. Two men arrested in a car at Ohinewal with the Auckland Prison escaper, Mihaly Bede, on April 9 were today sentenced by Mr C. E. H, Pledger, S.M., to prison terms. Raymond Brett, aged 34, a printer, was gaoled for eight months. Michael Davidson, aged 26, an unemployed painter, was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment for possessing implements of burglary on March 28, and to a similar term for burgling the professional golf shop of the Akarana Golf Course on March 28 The sentences will be concurrent. He was also sentenced to six months imprisonment for helping an escaper. This sentence will be served umulatively. Davidson pleaded guilty to all the charges. Brett also admitted helping Bede.
