CONTRACT OFFERED

Soccer Rep. To Decide

(N.Z. Press Association)

AUCKLAND.

The 18-year-old New Zealand soccer player, B. A. Turner, may decline an offer to play for the English league soccer club, Chelsea. His father, Mr T. H. Turner said last evening that his son, now in London, had been offered a contract by Chelsea to play for the club’s reserve team at £2O a week. “It seems a lot,” said Mr Turner, "but Brian was hoping to save enough to be able to pay for a trip back to New Zealand after a year. The rest of the reserve team get £4O a week.” His son was homesick, said Mr Turner, and did not relish the thought of staying away from home for at least two years. Turner has until the end of the week to decide on the Chelsea offer.
